Ghana

Background

There is on-going educational reform in Ghana. Ghana aimed at providing quality education to all Ghanaians. Due to its limited resources the Government has been unable to meet the growing demand for schools. It, therefore, welcomes any efforts that will help Ghanaians gain access to education.

Project: Tuba Educational Complex

About six years ago, Ghana’s Islamic Bureau for the Disabled, a local NGO, started a project in the township of Dar Tauba (Tuba) close to Accra. The project, which includes a masjid, a senior secondary school, a student boarding home and a health clinic, was halted due to lack of funding.

The buildings fell into disrepair, and faced the prospects of dilapidation if not rescued.

Ihsan stepped in with financial assistance. As a result, the Tuba Senior Secondary School welcomed its first batch of students in September 2006.

The development of this school into a viable educational institution is Ihsan’s first major project in Ghana.
